You are cordially invited to the 11th Annual Meeting of the Society for Bioacoustics. The meeting welcomes international students and researchers in areas of both basic and applied bioacoustics researches in animals and in humans. Topics include but not limited to hearing, sound and vibration effects on animals and humans, behaviors, neural mechanisms, models, and methodology. This meeting has the following features.
- The presentations and discussions are delivered in English or Japanese.
- Symposium on ‘Bat Echolocation’ will be held in 2 December 2024.
- All contributed papers will be presented as oral.
- Presentation awards are granted to excellent presentations given by students or researchers who got their degrees within three years. Memberships of the Society for Bioacoustics are required.
- The meeting is structured to provide enough time for participants to interact. The banquet will be held in 2 December 2024 at Yayoi campus. Attending without presentation is also welcomed.

3. Preregistration
If you wish to present, please send the following information by email to the conference secretariat (bainfo [at] bacoust.org [at] changed to @) by the deadline (October 20th):
(1) Whether or not you will be making a presentation, (2) name, (3) affiliation, (4) address, phone number, and email address, (5) whether or not you will attend the banquet, (6) whether or not you have membership status, and the type of membership (general, student, supporting), (7) whether or not you apply for a presentation award (students and young researchers who have received their doctorate within the last three years).
If you wish to participate without making a presentation, please send the above information by email to the conference secretariat (bainfo [at] bacoust.org [at] changed to @) by October 31st.
4. Joining the Society.
You have to be a member of the Society for Bioacoustics, to present a paper at the Annual Meeting. If you have not yet joined the Society, please visit the webpage of the Society and join the Society by 20 October 2024.
5. Abstract submission
Authors who wish to present should submit an abstract (English abstract, maximum 3,000 characters) to the conference secretariat (bainfo [at] bacoust.org [at] replaced with @) by October 20. A template file can be downloaded from here. Abstracts can include figures (up to one page).
6. Payment for your preregistration
Meeting attendees should transfer their fees for registration by October 31st to the bank account of the Society. Details will be announced online.
7. Same-day registration
Registrations (attendance only) on the day of the presentation will also be accepted. Please pay the designated registration fee at the reception desk.
8. Conference proceedings
A PDF file of the proceedings will be sent to conference participants before the conference. Conference participants attending in person will receive a booklet of the proceedings at the reception desk of the presentation venue. Additional copies of the booklet are available for purchase at the meeting reception desk.
9. Social Gathering
A social gathering is planned for the evening of December 2nd near the venue. When registering in advance, please let us know if you will be attending. Please pay the social gathering fee at the reception on the day. We will also accept those who register on the day if there are seats available, but please note that we may not be able to accommodate your request. If you wish to cancel, please contact the secretariat by November 24th. Please note that cancellations made after this date will not be refunded.
