The 13th Annual Meeting of the Society for Bioacoustics will be held as follows.

We are pleased to announce the 13th Annual Meeting of the Society for Bioacoustics, to be held on the dates and at the venue listed above. The meeting covers basic and applied research related to biological sounds (including human and animal hearing, the effects of sound and vibration, behavior, neural mechanisms, models, and methodologies). A public symposium on bioacoustics and biovibroacoustics is scheduled for the afternoon of October 29, followed by general presentations on October 30. General presentations may be given in English or Japanese, and poster presentations are also planned. “Best Presentation” and “Excellent Presentation” awards will be presented to outstanding presentations delivered by students or early-career researchers (within three years of obtaining their PhD); eligibility is limited to presentations by society members. Attendance without giving a presentation is also welcome.

If you wish to give a presentation, please submit the following information via the advance registration form by the deadline (October 9).

(5) Membership category (General, Student, Non-member, etc.)

(6) Attendance at the Social Gathering (Yes/No)

(7) (For presenters) Presentation type (oral or poster), title, author(s), affiliation, and abstract

(8) (For presenters) Application for an award (limited to students or young members within three years of obtaining their PhD)

Please use the same advance registration form to register by the deadline even if you wish to attend without giving a presentation.

4. Application for Society Membership

To give a presentation, you must be a member of the Bioacoustics Society. If you are not currently a member, please check the Society’s website (here) and complete the online membership registration by October 9. Please note that while students may choose to present as non-members, non-members are not eligible for awards.

5. Abstract Submission

Authors wishing to present should submit an abstract (in English or Japanese; maximum 3,000 characters) via the advance registration form by October 9.

Please remit payment by the deadline (October 16). Please note that membership fees must be transferred to a separate account. Additionally, please be aware that this society is not a registered issuer of qualified invoices.

7. On-site Registration

Registration for the presentation event (attendance only) will also be accepted on the day. Please pay the designated participation fee at the venue reception. Note that the public symposium is free of charge, and on-the-day registration (attendance only) for student members is also free.

8. Proceedings

A PDF file of the proceedings (abstract collection) will be sent to all participants prior to the event. For those attending in person, a printed copy of the proceedings will be provided at the reception desk at the venue.

9. Social Gathering

A social gathering is scheduled for the evening of October 29 near Fukushima Station. Please indicate whether you will attend using the advance registration form. The fee for the gathering should be paid via bank transfer in advance, together with the conference registration fee. Please note that those registering on the day of the event will not be able to sign up for the social gathering. If you need to cancel your attendance, please notify the secretariat by October 26; cancellations made after this date are non-refundable.

Social Gathering fee: General 6,000 yen (includes 10% tax); Students 4,000 yen (includes 10% tax)
